Our Story
Hi! I’m Shilpa
Mom, Designer, and Founder of Make It Pop!
Creating and building things has been my happy place for as long as I can remember. While most kids wanted new toys, I was always drawn to the world of stationery and art supplies—pencils, paints, brushes, charcoal, and sketchbooks, there was something magical about it all. I’d spend hours sorting my crayons by color, testing every watercolor pencil, and collecting art supplies like they were treasure. Even the smell of fresh paper and the pop of a fresh paint tube felt full of possibility.
My grandmother and I crafted projects every single day after school, and those moments shaped my creativity, my confidence, and eventually, my career.
Over the past twenty years, I’ve immersed myself in creative studio environments—starting in design school and evolving through hands-on work experience. As a trained architect and interior designer with a focus on spatial design, I’m proud to serve as a Director at Rockwell Group in New York City, where I oversee luxury hospitality interior projects worldwide. Yet, no matter how grand the project, I remain convinced that the true magic lies in the details.
Make It Pop was born from my daughter’s love for creating and my own passion for making with heart. Watching her light up with pride after creating something all on her own reminded me why I fell in love with art in the first place.
Now, I’m on a mission to share that feeling—with your kids, with you, with anyone who wants to play, imagine, and make something fun. At Make It Pop, we celebrate creativity in all its beautiful, messy, colorful glory.
